Sound Beginnings Camp

This was a camp designed for the children that go to Sound Beginnings. It was a chance for their families to all come together and meet one another. It was great. The volunteers were in charge of groups of kids and we planned tons of activities for them to do. I was in charge of the 5-6 year olds and they were a blast. They all had cochlear implants and as we played with the kids their parents were at different lectures learning about things that they should know with their children. They were taught different techniques, what to expect in the future and more about the Sound Beginnings Program itself.

At the end we showed movies that each of the groups had made and presented each of the children with an award.

This was a fun experience and you could see how much fun the families had. They were able to find other families that were in their same situations and they were able to get to know them. You could tell by the end that there were new friendships and bonds that had been made.
