I volunteered at a 5K held in my town, Honeyville! This was such a great experience. This is one of the main reasons that I would advise other people to do Service Learning Scholars. It has helped me to branch out and to learn about the people in my community. I felt that as I helped out and talked to people it was a turning point. Many people from Honeyville didn't know me or talk to me at all. It was as if volunteering for this 5K turned me into a real person. And I appreciated that!
Not to mention volunteering for 5K's are one of my favorite volunteer places. I love doing the forms, handing things out, having everything alphabetized and giving instructions. This will be something that I will do every year.
